Your information matters
Privacy Policy
Last updated: 20 September 2026
This policy explains how Mzansi Tec, a digital marketing and website agency based in Johannesburg, South Africa, handles personal information when you visit mzansitec.co.za or contact us about our services. We are responsible for the information we process for these purposes under the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).
1. Information we collect
When you enquire, request an audit or strategy call, or apply for a website, you may provide your name, email address, phone number, business name, website address, marketing goals and other details you choose to share. We also receive the contents of messages you send us. Please do not include passwords, payment-card details or sensitive personal information in an enquiry.
Website hosting and analytics services may process technical and usage information, such as device and browser details, pages visited, referral sources, approximate location, identifiers and network information needed to deliver and protect the website.
2. How enquiry forms work
Our Contact Us form securely sends the details you enter to Google Apps Script and stores your enquiry in a Google Sheet managed by Mzansi Tec so we can respond. We store your name, email address, optional phone number and company, selected service, message, privacy acknowledgement, submission time and a submission reference. Please do not include sensitive personal information in your message. Our free audit and website application forms prepare a WhatsApp message using the details you enter and open WhatsApp so you can review and send it. Opening the link passes those details to WhatsApp; Mzansi Tec receives the message when you send it. You can instead email info@mzansitec.co.za. WhatsApp and your email provider process information under their own privacy policies.
3. Why we use your information
- To respond to enquiries and assess website applications.
- To prepare requested audits, quotes and strategy calls, and deliver agreed services.
- To communicate with you about your request or our work together.
- To understand website usage, improve our website and protect it against misuse.
- To meet applicable legal obligations and handle disputes.
Depending on the purpose, processing is based on your consent, steps needed to enter into or perform an agreement, a legal obligation, or a legitimate interest permitted by POPIA. Providing enquiry details is voluntary, but without relevant contact or business information we may be unable to respond or assess your request. You may ask us to stop direct marketing at any time.
4. Cookies and Google Analytics
This website uses Google Analytics to help us understand visits and how people use our pages. Google Analytics may use cookies and similar identifiers to collect usage and device information. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings and use the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on where supported. Blocking cookies may affect some website features.
Read how Google uses information from sites that use its services for more detail.
5. Service providers and sharing
Information may be processed by providers supporting our website and communications, including Google Firebase Hosting, Google Apps Script and Google Sheets for contact-form enquiries, Google Analytics, WhatsApp when you use our WhatsApp links, and email services when you contact us by email. We may also disclose information where required by law or necessary to protect legal rights. External websites and social platforms linked from our website have their own privacy practices.
6. Processing outside South Africa
Some service providers operate internationally and may process information outside South Africa. Where we transfer personal information abroad, applicable POPIA requirements govern the transfer, including appropriate protection or another lawful basis for the transfer.
7. Retention and security
We keep personal information for as long as needed for the purpose for which it was collected, including responding to your request, providing services and meeting applicable recordkeeping or legal requirements. Retention depends on the information and our relationship with you. You can contact us to ask about retention or request deletion, subject to lawful retention requirements.
We take reasonable steps to protect information against unauthorised access, loss and misuse. No internet transmission or storage method is completely secure.
8. Your privacy rights
Subject to POPIA, you may request access to personal information we hold about you, ask for incorrect information to be corrected, request deletion where applicable, object to certain processing, or withdraw consent where processing relies on consent. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that was lawful before withdrawal. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
Send requests or privacy questions to info@mzansitec.co.za. You may also lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa.
9. Updates to this policy
We may update this policy as our website, services or legal requirements change. The latest version will appear on this page with its updated date.
